Born in 1947 - went to secondary school in Amsterdam. Office-clerk in Eindhoven. Worked as a psychiatric nurse from 1965 in Ermelo. Married with Betsie Zondag in 1968 and we have five children. June 18, 2005 Betsie was torn away from our lives. We have no words, but we trust she sees Jesus now. Evangelist: We engaged in child evangelization work in Amsterdam (1969-1978) and bible-study groups for adults. Nurse/Social worker: From 1965 till 1972 I first worked as a nurse in Ermelo. After I married I was a professional nurse in a clinic (Jellinek, Amsterdam) for alcoholics and drug-addicts. Then I worked as a social worker in a christian centre where homeless and addicted youngsters received help and rehabilitation. Became a member of Dutch order of St Luke in 1967. Since 1980 Chaplain of the Dutch chapter and ordained as Warden in 2006. Teacher: From 1972 till 1974 I worked full-time, later parttime (till 1984) as translater/teacher at Bible School 'In de Ruimte', Soest (Systematic theology and cults). From 1977 till 1992 I taught religious education at a primary school in my parish. Since 1995 I teach in a theological course for lay-people in Utrecht (and the Hague (since 2002) about 'The responsibility of the church in a global society'. Writer: From 1982 till 1987 I wrote in the radical-evangelical magazine 'Reveil' . From the start in 1984 I write for the Evangelical Theological Quarterly 'Soteria' - department 'missions' and 'practical theology'. Editor of 'Church in the Hague', an ecumenical monthly, with my own column. Books: Wat ook in de bijbel staat, 1988, Kok, Kampen. Contributed to: 'Pastoraat op de grens', 1989, Merweboek, Sliedrecht. 'Geneeswijzen in Nederland, editor P.vDijk, 2003, Ankh-Hermes, Deventer. Minister: Since 1975 I worked as youth-pastor in Amsterdam. From 1977 till 1992 pastor in a deprived area (Elthetokerk, Dutch Reformed). Member of Commission on Church Renewal of the World Evangelical Fellowship. Visited conferences in Londen (1980, Simple Lifestyle). Wheaton (1983, I will build my church), 1986 (Singapore, Renew the Church- Reach the world), Rio de Janeiro (1987, The witness of the church). Boedapest (Hope21, 2002). In 1996 degree in missiology at Free University of Amsterdam. 'Healing for the city', the congregation as wounded healer. From 1992 till 2001 pastor in Utrecht-West (Uniting reformed). In that period board member of Dutch Bible Society. Since sept. 2001 part time pastor in the protestant church of The Hague-Loosduinen (Bethelkerk; accepted a new vocation in January 2007 in Laakchapel, the Hague (parttime), where we tried to build bridges to the neighbourhood. Retired May 1 2012. From January 2008 till Januari 1 2013 appointed in Rijswijk(two days a week) as diaconal worker. |
